Major Updates to the 2018 Mazda6

For its new model year, the 2018 Mazda6 sees some significant upgrades. The first of which we want to mention is the addition of a new engine option. The SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T I4 engine is a first for this model. The engine was previously only available in the crossover and SUV model lineup from Mazda. For the 2018 model year, the famous sedan sees an addition of power potential in the form of this impressive 250-horsepower engine. This new equipment will be available as an optional upgrade in upper trim levels of the 2018 Mazda6 spectrum. Alongside this new engine, the 2018 model year of the Mazda6 also gets standard cylinder-deactivation technology. This equipment works to improve fuel economy by shutting down the outside two cylinders of the engine when the vehicle is operating between certain speeds at a steady pace. When drivers need more power it imperceptibly shifts from two-cylinder operation to four-cylinder operation.

Another addition for the new model year is the introduction of a new trim level in the Mazda6 spectrum. Previously, the Mazda6 only offered three trim levels. These included the Sport, the Touring, and the Grand Touring. Now, the new Mazda6 gets a Signature trim level and retains the previous lineup. The Signature trim is designed to rival luxury competitors and gives drivers of the 2018 Mazda6 expanded options for performance technology, interior features, and ultra-sophisticated material options. In addition to this trim, the entirety of the Mazda6 model grade lineup sees an expansion of standard features, increasing value at every price point.
