What Does the TOP SAFETY PICK + Award Mean?
To be considered for the 2020 TOP SAFETY PICK or TOP SAFETY PICK + awards, a vehicle must earn “advanced” or “superior” marks for their front accident detection and avoidance systems. Awardees must also earn “good” ratings in each of the Institute’s six crashworthiness evaluations:
- Moderate overlap frontal test
- Driver-side small overlap frontal test
- Passenger-side small overlap frontal test
- Side crash test
- Roof strength test
- Head restraints & seats test
