How safe is the 2019 Mazda CX-5?
For the new model year, the latest version of the Mazda’s second-largest crossover SUV has impressed Gwatney Mazda of Germantown customers with its impressive new technology. And as much as we love talking about the new features the vehicle has available, we can’t overlook what it has to offer in terms of passenger protection. So, how safe is the 2019 Mazda CX-5? Well, it’s about the best a customer could reasonably ask for within this highly-competitive class of the automotive industry. Earlier this month, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the 2019 Mazda CX-5 its highest designation, Top Safety Pick+. The IIHS now requires a vehicle to achieve its top rating of ‘Good’ in the passenger-side small overlap test to even be in the running for the Top Safety Pick+ award. Not only did the 2019 Mazda CX-5 meet the challenge, but it also scored a perfect rating in the rest of the agency’s testing protocols. Other areas that require a top-score to be named alongside the 2019 Mazda CX-5 include moderate overlap, side impact, roof strength, head restraints/seats, front crash prevention and headlights. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 was given ‘Good’ ratings in all of those.
Within the new passenger-side small front overlap test, the 2019 Mazda CX-5 scored perfectly in all phases of the evaluation, exceeding the IIHS’ requirements.
Mazda has made its Smart City Brake Support and redesigned LED headlights available on more of the trims of the 2019 Mazda CX-5, which has largely contributed to the model’s impressive safety profile. The Mazda CX-5 has also achieved top marks from the IIHS for the previous three model years.
