2019 Mazda6 IIHS Safety Ratings and Top Safety Pick+

After putting the Mazda6 through a barrage of intricate tests, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety sends the sedan home with top honors. See the report card for yourself when we crack into the 2019 Mazda6 IIHS safety ratings and its Top Safety Pick+ designation.

To earn the Top Safety Pick+ designation, a vehicle must earn “Good” ratings in all six of the organization’s categories for crashworthiness. The vehicle must also earn a rating of “Advanced” or “Superior” for front crash prevention and “Good” in headlight quality.

The Top Safety Pick+ designation was awarded to 2019 Mazda6 models built after June 2019 that are equipped with the Adaptive Front-lighting System. Here is an overview of the IIHS ratings for all 2019 Mazda6 models built after June 2019.

Safety Feature Availability on the 2019 Mazda6

The “Superior”-rated front crash prevention system of the 2019 Mazda6 is standard on all models of the lineup. The vehicle completely avoided collision in the IIHS’s 12-mph track test and was able to reduce speed to just 1 mph in the 25-mph test. The Adaptive Front-lighting System is found standard on 2019 Mazda6 Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models.

Other standard safety features found on the 2019 Mazda6 lineup include Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, the Lane Departure Warning System, Lane-keep Assist and High Beam Control.
